MORRIS BUILDS ON REGION'S DEMAND FOR NEW HOMES

One of the country's leading housebuilders has revealed plans to expand its operations in 2008, despite many gloomy predictions from market analysts, as demand for new homes in the West Midlands increases.

As part of the expansion, the company has appointed Julie Smith as sales director of its West Midlands division to help lead their growing team of sales advisors and prepare for the launch of three new developments across the region.

Julie Smith, previously sales director for the company's East Midlands division, will oversee sales on all Morris developments across the West Midlands including St George's Park in Telford, College Gate in Crewe and the high profile school conversion, Claremont, in Bilston, Wolverhampton. She will also play a crucial role in the launch of more than 500 new homes in planned schemes across Birmingham and Shrewsbury.

Julie (33), who joined Morris in 2007, said: "I joined Morris because it is a fast growing company with some excellent current and future developments. Being originally from the West Midlands myself, I am looking forward to helping the team expand into this region and build on its current success with a number of new landmark schemes including Saxon Fields which we are launching for sale next month in Wem."

The business, based in Wolverhampton, was set up in 2001 and forms the West Midlands division of Morris, one the UK's largest privately owned house builders with turnover approaching £250m. The company, which currently has 12 live developments across the region, has won numerous accolades for its quality of build, landscaping and energy efficiency and was recently named "Green Housebuilder of the Year".
