A great location...

Rushden itself is situated on the A6, mid-way between Bedford and Kettering and takes its name from the Saxon settlement originally situated along the banks of the 'Rushy Dene', the brook which runs through the middle of the town.

The southern limits border on the county of Bedfordshire, and to the north lies the meandering River Nene, which flows into the Wash. From whichever way Rushden is approached, the streets and roads can be seen stretching out in the valley, with the spire of the 14th century St Mary's church rising majestically above the rooftops.

With a rich history...

Rushden's roots and prosperity have resulted from a number of industries, including lace making and farming, although the shoe making industry was responsible for the largest growth in the town. In the industry's heyday there were well over 100 boot and shoe factories in the town, though today just a handful survive. One of the
most renowned is Sanders and Sanders, which still makes boots for the British Army.

The town is also home to many big name high street stores, pubs and eateries - in addition to the oldest toy shop in the country. This sense of history is further enhanced by Rushden Hall, one of the oldest buildings in the town, which has been owned by many families
throughout the year including the Sartoris and the Pembertons.

Commuting...

Good transport links make it perfect for commuters, with the nearby A45 bypass to Thrapston and Peterborough and the A1 (M) opening up access to the rest of the country. For longer journeys, Gatwick airport is approximately a 2-hour drive away.
