Oldbury is a sleepy town in the borough of Sandwell in the West Midlands, a stone’s throw from Dudley, West Bromwich and the bustling city of Birmingham. The town was an important location for tank production during World War I, but now you can enjoy a quieter and gentler pace at our new homes in Oldbury.
Oldbury town centre has a variety of shops and restaurants, including the Oldbury Green retail park. There are also shopping centres in neighbouring Dudley (Churchill Shopping Centre) and West Bromwich (Kings Square Shopping Centre), while a short train ride into New Street station brings you right into the heart of Birmingham, where you’ll find designer brands and fantastic restaurants at the Bullring shopping centre.
Things to do
Oldbury has a number of outdoor trails and parks to explore, visit the Zoological Gardens at Dudley and the Black Country Living Museum. In the neighbouring town of West Bromwich you’ll find the picturesque Sandwell Valley Country Park, with adventure playgrounds, a children’s farm and no shortage of scenic walking routes.
The Forge is less than 2 miles from junction 2 of the M5, which leads to West Bromwich and the M6 in the north, while heading south will lead to Bristol with junctions to the historical cities of Worcester, Cheltenham and Gloucester. For rail links, nearby Sandwell & Dudley train station provides a route into central Birmingham for onward travel to Manchester, Sheffield, the Midlands and London, while the nearest airport can be found at Birmingham.
